Maple Caramelized Pear Walnut Bake (Printable)

01 - 4 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced

02 - 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
04 - 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

05 - 3/4 cup walnut halves

→ Spices & Flavorings

06 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
08 - 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

→ Garnish (optional)

09 - Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream, for serving

# Directions:

01 - Set oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.
02 - In an ovenproof skillet over medium heat, melt butter then add brown sugar and maple syrup. Stir continuously until sugar dissolves and mixture bubbles, about 2 minutes.
03 - Add sliced pears to the skillet and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally until pears soften and caramelize.
04 - Incorporate walnut halves and vanilla extract into the pear mixture, stirring gently to combine evenly.
05 - Transfer the skillet or pour contents into a baking dish and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until pears are tender and walnuts are toasted.
06 - Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then serve warm topped with Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream if desired.
